I enjoyed the polygonal art on JWST images series so much last year, that I did a second set!

Precious - Model Martin is superimposed on the equally gorgeous NGC 5584, a spiral galaxy 72 million light-years away from us.

Birthplace - Model Ali merges with Rho Ophiuchi. Just 360 light-years away, this is the closest star-forming region to Earth.

From Death.. - My first anonymous model of this series - only torso, like a rediscovered Greek Statue - is combined with the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A. It is 10 light-years across and 11,000 light-years from us.

... A New Beginning - The second anonymous model forms a diptych with Cassiopeia A. This gas cloud, NGC 346, is located in a galaxy-next-door, the Small Magellanic Cloud. It was polluted by the elements released by supernovae and it is now a perfect place for stars and planets to form.

Youthful Energy - Model David mimics Herbig-Haro 46/47, a pair of actively forming stars that have ejected material with vigour, in this stepping stone phase to full stellarhood.

The images once again feature queer people because the namesake of JWST was a bigot (check out this documentary too) and this is my way to queer up the scientific output associated with it.

NASA very much disagrees with the "bigot" assessment because they have 'not found any evidence that he directly fired somebody for being gay' (very important phrasing in the report which was coincidentally published on International Day of LGBTQIA+ People in STEM 2022 - that goes to show how much the agency cares about the community).
